Resolve--a pole-based system
Vertical poles in three heights (96, 60, and 48 inches), work with horizontal support arms to define work areas, provide a structural foundation, support hang-on components, and make power and data accessible to the user. Trusses attach to tall pole tops to route power and data cables overhead and delineate space. They can also help people find their way in a workspace.
Value and Savings
Fast installation. The simple, lightweight infrastructure and concise vocabulary make installation quick and efficient; cables are all laid in.
Easy reconfiguration. Resolve is agile, designed for speedy changes that control churn costs and don't disrupt workers.
Efficient asset management. Compared to traditional systems, Resolve has about one-quarter the components and takes up one-third the space when knocked down in storage.
Optimum floor plan. The 120-degree geometry can create higher workstation densities while maintaining openness and comfort.
Attract and keep employees. Resolve helps workers be more comfortable and effective; they stay connected to their work and to each other.

Productivity
More collaboration. New, cost-effective 48-inch poles enhance teaming and collaboration, promote a sense of community, and convey a human scale.
Reducing noise distractions. Quiet Technology sound masking targets human speech so people can concentrate better.
Connecting people. Resolve's shapes and openness encourage creative interaction that leads to innovative solutions.
Faster acclimation. Interaction and collaboration help people get comfortable and up to speed in their jobs.
Personalization
Screens, canopies, and floor mats. Define personal territory.
Rolling screens. Users control privacy and enclosure.
Custom graphics. With the Customer's Own Image (COI) program, customers can have their own graphics digitally printed on screens, canopies, and flags.
Work tools. People can place and move them right where they're needed.
Human scale. The design is based on the size, reach, and movements of people.
Technology Support
Overhead pathway. Trusses carry power and data independent of the workspace below so workstations can be light, open, and easy to plan and reconfigure; a truss can hold a 6-circuit, 10-wire electrical harness and has capacity for 100 Category 5, 4-pair cables.
Pole power. Each pole face can hold 6 Category 5, 4-pair UTP cables for a total of 18 cable drops; each pole has locations for 9 duplex receptacles.
Star topology. Cables in trusses can be routed in an efficient pattern that radiates from the centre of a space to the perimeter, using significantly less cable than spine wall routing.
Zone distribution. Reduces time and cost when installing and reconfiguring data networks.
Environmental Sense
Using less to do more. A Resolve workstation weighs one-third less than a traditional systems workstation and has a greater strength-to-weight ratio.
High recycled content. Every part is easily disassembled for recycling.

Resolve Design Story
Herman Miller and designer Ayse Birsel saw the sweeping changes in people, work, business strategies, and technology as a great opportunity to reexamine the work environment and resolve (or re-solve) critical workplace issues.
The result of this inquiry is the Resolve system. Resolve isn't simply an evolution of panel-based products. In fact, there are no panels at all.
The elegantly simple structure is based on poles with screens attached at 120-degree angles. This inventive approach provides all the intelligence and function of panels while allowing greater diversity of workstation patterns and more cost-effective use of real estate. There's also more openness and flexibility for collaborative environments.
Resolve's human scale and ease of use reflect its fundamental principle: An organization's success starts with each person, so it's critical that everyone be provided the capabilities to do their job most effectively, whether it's collaboration or individual tasks.
